Renowned Italian actress, Mariangela Melato, can be seen in many CinemaItalia films this season, one of which won her a David di Donatello, Italian Academy of Cinema Award for Best Actress, 1977.
Ms. Melato was awarded a Best Actress Award for her role as Ofelia in The Cat (Il Gatto), by director Luigi Comencini who is considered among the masters of "commedia all'italiana".
"The Cat", showing Sunday, 2 June, at 18:00 hrs, is a hilarious comedy about a greedy brother (Ugo Tognazzi) and sister (Mariangela Melato) duo who want to accept a generous offer to sell their delapidaded apartment building, but must scheme and conive to get their remaining stubborn tenants to move out.
