On a visionary journey, Italy as we have never seen it. And how we risk losing it.
"Beloved Shores" is a visual poem about Italy. The film casts a glance on the life of the country, from cultural and environmental heritage to economy and industry. Images and music proceed hand in hand in a continuum, where the alternation of extremely diverse scenes represents the possible biography of a Nation.
DIRECTOR’S NOTE
This film is a narrative system without words, composed only of images and music. This is the structure of "Beloved Shores" as in a suite by J. S. Bach with its own tempos or movements and a prelude. The possible story of a country - Italy - in its contradictory yet dynamic present, in a film where the interaction between image and sound becomes a physical and emotional story mediated by editing. The story following the footsteps of S. Ejzenstejn wants to push the spectator to see the music and listen to the images, because the important thing is not trying to understand, but rather trying to feel who we are, where we are and what we don’t want to lose.
